To start off my Enid Blyton reading extravaganza I read the first book in The Secret Seven Series which is simply called The Secret Seven.
It starts off with a note from Enid's daughter Gillian who tells you that the tales are actually based on a real group of children who called themselves The Secret Seven Society.
The story is about seven children Peter, Janet, Jack, Barbara, Pam, Colin and George who start a club. They can't think of what to do in their club until Jack comes up with an idea - a club that solves mysteries. He comes up with the idea one night when he sees odd things happening in the village. The story continues from there with the society solving the mystery in the end.
The Secret Seven is probably one of Enid Blytons most successful series of books, she must have rather liked them as she wrote 16 of them including a book full of short stories.
I think that I enjoyed reading the book as much as an eight year old would, if there are any Enid fans reading this blog I suggest you read the book - even if you have read it before - it is a sensation in more ways than one!
Fact of the Day ( Secret Seven Style)
The first Secret Seven story was published in 1949 which would make Enid 54 at the time of publishing.

Enid Number One
It's a bit strange really, I only read one Enid Blyton book when I was the age an Enid Blyton fan normally is and now I am what you could call a superfan!
It was after watching the film 'Enid' for the first time that I found that I had an interest. The second time that I watched the film I was closly looking at the closer details of her writing life (as I am an aspiring writer). And then the third time I watched it, which was on YouTube in about ten mini parts I kind of became obsessed!
I have the NEED to read all of Enid's books so that I can call myself one of the great authors avid readers.
In this blog I will write about the books that I read and facts about the incredible author, Miss Enid Blyton.
Lets start off with what I feel is a fantastic fact to start off with;
Fact Number One:
Enid Blyton wrote over 750 books in her life time.
